We Help Families Deal With Unwanted Firearms Safely and Legally.

People who never expected to need them.
Many people who contact us are dealing with firearms for the first time after the loss of a loved one, during probate, or while helping a family member transition into assisted living.
Because firearms often stay in families for generations, many of the situations we handle begin when someone is left with guns they know little about. Most of the people we work with never expected to own firearms. Some have inherited a gun collection after the loss of a family member. Others simply want help safely removing firearms they no longer want in the home.
We Come to You
In our experience, firearms left behind in a home are often loaded. Please do not try to handle, move, or unload unfamiliar firearms yourself. A trained CGS firearms safety professional will come to you for safe pickup and removal.
Request HelpCommon Situations We Help Families Through
Every family’s situation is different. Whether you need to understand what a collection is worth, transfer firearms to family members, remove unwanted guns from a home, or simply figure out what to do next, we help you understand your options and move forward safely.
Below are some of the most common situations we help families work through with care, discretion, and practical guidance.
Inherited Gun Collections
Families who inherit firearms usually need answers about registration, value, and liquidation options. CGS helps identify what you have and explains your options to keep, transfer, sell, appraise, or remove the guns.
Firearms Left Untouched at Home
After a spouse or parent passes away, firearms and ammunition may sit untouched for years. CGS can come to you, safely remove them, and provide documentation showing the firearms were transferred out of your possession.
Estate Firearm Liquidation
Estate firearms may need inventory, appraisal, sale, transfer, or disposal before the estate can be resolved. CGS helps document what is there and explains the safest path forward.
Memory Care & Firearm Planning
When dementia, memory care, or assisted living makes firearms unsafe to keep at home, CGS helps families plan safe removal and practical options for retiring the guns responsibly.
Firearm Collection Appraisals
Some collections include valuable, historic, antique, or collectible firearms. CGS helps families understand what the collection may be worth before deciding what to keep, sell, transfer, or remove.
Unwanted Guns in the Home
A new baby, marriage, move, or change in household safety needs can make firearms feel unwanted. CGS can come to you, safely remove firearms and ammunition, and explain your options for transfer, sale, appraisal, or disposal.
Safe Guns in Safe Places for Safe Families
If there are kids in the home, possibly loaded guns, or firearms no one feels comfortable handling, CGS can help you take the next step safely and professionally.
Helping Families Safely Remove Firearms and Ammunition
California Gun Services helps families safely remove, sell, or dispose of inherited or unwanted firearms and ammunition.
Rather than requiring residents to transport firearms themselves or navigate complex California firearm laws, CGS provides professional on-site services at the resident’s home.
We bring professional firearm services directly to you, including:
- In-home consultations
- On-site pickup & removal of firearms and ammunition
- Professional mobile firearm services

Meet the Owner
Jeff McCabe
Owner, California Gun Services
My name is Jeff McCabe and I am a local business owner who was born and raised in Orange County.
Over the years, I have gained a reputation with my friends, customers, and at church by helping people with Orange County legal gun disposal, and by advising them on how to stay or become legal and to always be safe with their firearms.
I believe that we as Americans have a great privilege to be able to own a firearm, but with that comes an even greater responsibility to not only protect ourselves legally by complying with Federal and State laws, but to protect ourselves, our neighbors and most importantly, our children from all possible dangers associated with firearms.
