We're excited to announce that California Gun Services is expanding to Northern California! By the end of 2024, we’ll be opening a brand-new store location in Placer County to better serve our friends in Superior County and The Bay Area. This is a huge step for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our trusted services to a new community.
Our Story
California Gun Services started almost by accident back in July 2016 after I stumbled upon an unmet need for gun services in my local community.
At the time, I was running my first business, One Way Painting, a family-owned company in Orange County, CA. While working on a client’s home, I came across a gun collection hidden under her bed since her husband had passed away. She didn’t feel comfortable keeping the guns but didn’t know how to safely and legally get rid of them.
As I researched ways to help, I realized there were very few resources for people in her situation. I assisted her in removing the guns and took them to the local police for proper disposal. She was so relieved and grateful to have the guns legally removed that she shared her experience with her church. Word spread quickly, and before long, my phone was ringing off the hook. I was getting calls from people all over Orange County who needed help safely and legally getting rid of their unwanted guns and collections. That's how CGS got started—just me, my wife, and the trust of folks in the community.
As the first mobile gun services company in California, we quickly became the go-to resource in Orange County for individuals looking to handle unwanted firearms legally and safely. Since then, we've partnered with the Orange Police Department and organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association in OC. We offer firearm resources at no cost, specializing in helping those with inherited or unwanted guns. Our work has helped families, fiduciaries, and individuals navigate the complex process of safely and legally managing firearms.
Why Are We Expanding To NorCal?
The decision to open a store in Northern California was driven by continuous requests from residents in the region for more direct services.
As more people learned about our services, the demand grew rapidly. Calls began coming in from all over California, with families and individuals needing help to safely and legally handle their unwanted firearms and collections. Over time, the number of requests from Northern California residents increased significantly. While we’ve done our best to support them remotely, it became clear that the growing demand called for a local presence.
Our mission has always been to assist non-gun owners across the state with the safe and legal ownership, disposal, sale, and transfer of firearms and ammo they no longer want or need. Our small but dedicated team has worked hard to meet the needs of Northern California residents from a distance. However, the steady rise in calls from San Francisco, Sacramento, and the Bay Area highlighted the need for a closer, more accessible solution.

At our Northern California store, you’ll be able to drop off and surrender unwanted firearms directly to us. We will continue offering no-cost pickups and removals for unwanted guns and collections. This ensures the process remains convenient, safe, and discreet for our clients who aren’t comfortable handling firearms.
Our new location in Northern California will also make us more readily available to help locals with firearm transfers. These transfers must be done in-person at an FFL holder's location. Additionally, this new store will operate as a fully functional gun shop, where we’ll sell firearms, ammo, knives, and accessories.
