A Gun Company For Those Who Are Not “Gun People”
We Help Families Deal With Unwanted Firearms Safely and Legally.
California Gun Services helps individuals and families understand what to do with firearms they no longer want, cannot keep, or have become responsible for. Most people we work with are not “gun people.” They are families, executors, fiduciaries, and individuals seeking answers, clarity, and a responsible path forward.

Federal Firearms License
CGS is a federally licensed firearms dealer. All firearm transfers and removals are completed in full compliance with California and federal law.
We Come to You
In our experience, estate and household firearms are often still loaded. Please do not handle, move, or unload firearms you are not familiar with. CGS comes to you for safe pickup and removal.
Transfer Records
At the time firearms are removed, you will receive records documenting that the firearms have been legally transferred out of your family's name.
Orange County Resource
CGS works with Orange County families, local officials, and law enforcement to help residents safely remove unwanted firearms from the home.
FIREARM SERVICES BUILT FOR
People who never expected to need them.
Many people who contact us are dealing with firearms for the first time after the loss of a loved one, during probate, or while helping a family member transition into assisted living.
Because firearms often stay in families for generations, many of the situations we handle begin when someone is left with guns they know little about. You may be wondering:
- Do inherited guns need to be registered?
- What should I do with old ammunition?
- Are the firearms legal to keep, sell, transfer, or dispose of?
When firearms become your responsibility, you do not have to figure it out alone.
Who We Are
Expert Guidance for Unfamiliar Guns
California Gun Services is an Orange County-based federally licensed firearm services company that helps people throughout Southern California deal with inherited firearms, estate gun collections, and unwanted guns.
While we are an FFL, we are not a traditional gun company. Most people we work with are not firearm owners, collectors, or enthusiasts. Instead, we help families and individuals who have become responsible for firearms they do not want to keep and are unsure what to do next. We come to you, unload firearms if needed, and take care of paperwork so that guns are legally removed from your name.
- Safe pickup and removal — we come to you so you don’t transport firearms.
- Certified firearms appraisals so you understand the value.
- On‑site documentation of legal transfers and chain‑of‑custody.
- Options to sell, consign, donate, or responsibly dispose of firearms.
Common Situations We Help Families Through
Most people call California Gun Services because they are not sure what they have, whether it is safe, or what the law allows them to do next. Some people have inherited a collection left behind by a parent or spouse. Others have discovered old guns and ammunition while cleaning out a family estate, helping a parent move, or managing property after a death.
Inherited a Gun Collection
When inheriting a gun collection, you may be unsure if the firearms need to be registered, how to handle them safely, or what they are worth. In California, there are laws dictating how you record the transfer and how long you wait to do so. CGS can come to you, identify what you have, and explain the safest next step based on your situation and goals.
Firearms Left Behind in the Home
If firearms have been sitting untouched for years, you may have concerns about safety, paperwork, and whether everything was handled properly. Many widows aren't sure if firearms were registered, transferred, or properly documented. We can come to you, safely and discreetly remove all firearms, and complete the legal transfer process with documentation on site.
Senior Care & Assisted Living Transitions
When a parent or loved one can no longer keep firearms in the home safely, moves into assisted living, memory care, or a smaller home, CGS can help remove unwanted firearms and ammunition safely from the property.
Estate Administration & Fiduciary Support
We work with executors, trustees, fiduciaries, and attorneys who need professional help identifying, documenting, valuing, transferring, selling, or disposing of firearms in an estate.
Firearm Collections
Some collections include valuable firearms, collectible pieces, or items that require careful legal review. We help families understand what is there before they decide what to keep, sell, transfer, or remove.
Unwanted Guns in the Home
If you no longer want firearms in the home, we can come to you, inspect what is there, and explain the safest legal options for removal, transfer, sale, or disposal.
Safe Guns in Safe Places for Safe Families
If there are kids in the home, possibly loaded guns, or firearms no one feels comfortable handling, CGS can help you take the next step safely and professionally.
California Gun Services is a licensed FFL. Firearm services are handled professionally and documented according to applicable California and federal requirements.
Meet the Owner
Jeff McCabe
Owner, California Gun Services
My name is Jeff McCabe and I am a local business owner who was born and raised in Orange County.
Over the years, I have gained a reputation with my friends, customers, and at church by helping people with Orange County legal gun disposal, and by advising them on how to stay or become legal and to always be safe with their firearms.
I believe that we as Americans have a great privilege to be able to own a firearm, but with that comes an even greater responsibility to not only protect ourselves legally by complying with Federal and State laws, but to protect ourselves, our neighbors and most importantly, our children from all possible dangers associated with firearms.
